Miles Friedman
Miles Friedman has over 30 years of practical economic development experience. He has provided technical
assistance and/or training in more than 30 states. Since 1980, he has led the National Association of State
Development Agencies (NASDA). He is a seasoned teacher and has been published in Economic Development
Review and Forbes Magazine. His most recent professional accomplishments include developing and economic
development strategy for the City of Manassas, Virginia; completing a business climate survey in North
Dakota; and co-authoring the state of Washington's Competitiveness Strategy. He currently chairs the Prince
William County Economic Development Council. Friedman is the author of the original State Directory of
Incentives for Business Investment in the United States which has been published since 1982.
Roger Stough
Roger Stough is the NOVA Endowed Chair, Eminent Scholar and Professor of Public Policy, Associate Dean for
Research, Development and External Relations, and Director, Mason Enterprise Center in the School of Public
Policy at George Mason University. He is the principal investigator on numerous grants and contracts
totaling more than $60,000,000 from a variety of government agencies and foundations in the United States
and abroad. Stough has an extensive publication record in both scholarly and professional publications and
has written 16 books.
Martin Briley
Martin Briley has more than 20 years of experience in national and international business development and
management. He has served as the Executive Director of the Prince William County Department of Economic
Development since 1997. He is responsible for attracting technology companies to Prince William County.
Investment in Prince William has increased significantly under Briley's leadership with over $2.6 billion
having been invested in the last seven years. In 2005, the Virginia General Assembly formally commended
the department's success.
Maury Forman
Maury Forman is Director of Professional Development Services for the Washington State Department of
Community, Trade and Economic Development. Forman is the most prolific author of economic development
texts in the nation with titles like Learning to Lead and Journey to Jobs constituting some of the most
popular economic development textbooks in the field. Forman has organized numerous economic development
courses and gives lectures on economic development throughout the United States.
