CERTIFICATE OVERVIEW

Projects move our 21st century working world forward. Managers within both public and private sectors measure their success by the achievement of the projects they oversee. Their competency is determined by the skill with which they balance the competing core project constraints: Scope, Schedule, and Cost. In addition, increasing workplace complexity and the need to “do more with less” places extraordinary demands on project managers.

The Project Management Certificate curriculum goes beyond the “What is project management and conceptual practices” to provide practical “How To” guidance, tools, techniques, and well-honed processes that can be immediately implemented within participants' working project environments. The Project Management Certificate program consists of four core courses and one elective. The core courses walk participants through project management basics which include how to plan, execute, control, and complete projects. Practical case scenarios reinforce tools and techniques to develop project schedules, calculate project budget forecasts, evaluate project cost and schedule performance, monitor and control projects, so they can get back on track to meet time and budget expectations. Project communications, team, conflict management, and stakeholder management are covered from several perspectives to help managers become project leaders. Participants select the elective from four different course options that enable them to delve more deeply into a variety of professional topics and customize their learning experience. The elective topics include: earned value management, managing projects with MS Project, negotiation and conflict management, and risk management.
